MORE INFO: Classes are twice a week, Monday and Thursday evenings starting promptly at 7:00 pm. The course instructor is IYE President Carlos Chafin with additional instruction from Chief Engineer Paul Bruski. Each lesson is 2 2/3 hours with an optional 1/3 hour Q&A after class. Students are strongly encouraged to own or have access to their own computer recording equipment. Academic discounts are available for Steinberg/Yamaha software (Cubase and Nuendo). Since classes take place in a professional recording facility, it will not be necessary to bring any gear to class; equipment will be available when needed. A handout of lesson Power Point materials will be provided at start of each class. Cost of the course is $750 with a discounted fee of $600 for registered students. Tuition is due in full paid to IYE before classes start. We reserve the right to limit class size to no more than 15 students and while 8 places are held for VCU students, the remaining places are open to the public on a first come basis. After submitting your application, selected students may need to be interviewed prior to acceptance to the course. The course counts as a two credit hour special offering to music industry track students. VCU students wishing to receive credit will need to contact the music department before taking the course. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Carlos Chafin at IYE or Anthony Garcia at VCU Department of Music.
